Ghana

Solace collaborated with a fledgling Seattle-based NGO, New Seed International, to build an clinic in the area around Sodoke, Ghana. New Seed was launched by surgical nurse Rebecca Conte in 2007 to gather and manage funds and medical volunteers for combatting the growing AIDS crisis in Ghana and other African countries. Together with the Byrne Family Foundation, Solace and New Seed negotiated labor and supply contracts, and supervised the construction and staffing of the Dorothy Byrne HIV/AIDS Care Center. The Center officially opened in 2008 and includes a clinic, nursery, pharmacy, orphanage, and school. Solace is happy to report that the site is now operating independently under Gahanna clinician, Livinus Aquah-Jackson. Rebecca has launched Med 25, a new NGO to addressing HIV/AID in Liberia and Kenya. She is working with Solace to break ground on two facilities in the Fall of 2009.
