Donate to support Solace International
Your contribution to Solace International is more than a donation: it is in investment in community development, education, and a sustainable future. Solace International is committed to getting your hard-earned dollars on the ground, in the field, and into purchasing labor and materials for new construction and start-up businesses. Solace consistently maintains low overhead by investing in local project managers, buying supplies locally, and supervising purchase and transport of goods and equipment. By being small, flexible, and thrifty, Solace has done far more with less.
Buy a tractor
For measurable return on investment for any single item needed for Solace projects, it doesn’t get much better than the purchase of a modern tractor and the training to go with it. Solace's projects in Kenya are at an important juncture. With several schools and vocational programs up and running, food is one of the greatest costs. Solace's agricultural programs are just beginning. Several students and project managers have emerged with a passion for growing food and animal husbandry. While existing crops are in good hands, hands alone can only do so much. Not only would a tractor dramatically increase Solace's food production, it would become a revenue source by providing paid service to other farmers. The $50,000 needed to fund this program will buy more than four wheels and a tiller. The Solace Tractor Program a new top-of-the-line tractor, a long-term maintenance contract, and training in the U.S. for one Mbita supervisor at one of the most prestigious programs in sustainable agriculture.
Girls Vocational School in Kenya
Now that the Mbita Boys Vocational School is up and operating, it is time to turn attention to offering the same opportunities to girls graduating from YGC, and local Mbita high school. Solace has broken ground on building a security fence around the more than 30 acres of lakeside campus property. The facilities will include multiple dorm “huts”, a small kitchen and restaurant, fish farm, banana plantation, power transformer station, and vocational building. Programs under consideration include training in hospitality, food service, nursing, and hospital administration. This school represents new opportunities for girls orphaned by AIDS – many of whom face a choice solely between forced marriage or prostitution. Help us break a terrible cycle and fund construction of this center for learning.
